From the recording CHRIST IS
The chorus of THE CRISIS was written after watching the flooding of the Mississippi River in 1993. So many amazing stories of faith and strangers coming together to help each other. Mr Perkins applied the verses after he gave his life to Jesus. He hopes that a group such as Samaritan's Purse will use this song to generate hope and help in the hard work of putting lives back together after catastrophe.

I haven't talked to you in years, I'd say
We didn't see things eye-to-eye and went our separate ways
But now, in times like these
My heart opens with ease
Why can't it always be this way?
(chorus)
The Crisis will bring us together (4)
I never really talked to my neighbor before
I'd just come home each day and live behind locked doors
But now, in times like these
My door opens with ease
Why can't it always be this way?
(chorus)
(bridge)
It feels like the whole world is one
And that's how it was meant to be
We all wake up to the same sun
Why does it take something like this for us to see?
I'd always thought that I'd been living right
If I could, I'd lend a hand and say my prayers each night
But now, in times like these
I'm down upon my knees
Why can't it always be this way?
